Join the East Coast Greenway staff, board, partners, and volunteers for a 39-mile ride from Topsfield to Boston on the East Coast Greenway.  Our friends at Border to Boston Danvers Rail Trail, and Bike to the Sea have helped organize a fantastic ride, showcasing the progress and continued efforts of these New England communities committed to developing trail. Celebrate spring, catching  glimpses of the beautiful northern shore and tree lined trails with their emerging green buds and spring flowers. Danvers Rail Trail will be setting up a rest stop and complimentary snacks will be provided. Don’t forget that an evening reception at the John Hancock Building (601 Congress Street) will follow the ride!
Detailed ride schedule:

Note for riders: Most of the route is paved though some stretches are packed stone dust (so most people can enjoy the ride on wider road or hybrid tires).  The route is a mix of roads and trails. Don’t expect to average high speeds, as we’ll need to respect walkers, runners, and other greenway users that Friday. This is a group ride (not a race!) and will not be timed.

Interested in a shorter ride? Join us for the northern section of the route and take the commuter trail back to Boston! Here are two great options f
or either a 15 mile or 23 mile ride:

  • Take the shuttle up to Topsfield and enjoy the northern portion of the route from Topsfield to Lynn, MA. Take the commuter rail at Lynn Station back to Boston. (~ 23 miles)
  • Take the shuttle up to Topsfield and enjoy the northern portion of the route from Topsfield to Salem, MA. Take the commuter rail at Salem Station back to Boston (~ 15 miles)

**Bikes are allowed on the commuter rail except peak evening hours outbound from Boston. For more information on Bicycles & the MBTA click HERE or for the rail schedule visit Newburyport/Rockport  MBTA schedule .**
