David Read

David Read joined the Board of Trustees in November 2006.

David is the Chief Operating Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System's Department of Medicine in Philadelphia. Prior to joining the University, David served as Administrative Director at Massachusetts General Hospital, and earlier was Business Manager at New England Deaconess Hospital, and a Health Sciences Instructor at Northeastern University. David holds an MPH from Harvard University and an MBA from Boston College.

David was (and still is) an active advocate for trails along Boston's North Shore, including the Bike to Boston Trail. Despite his recent move to Philadelphia, he returns to Topsfield, MA for key trail meetings. David is an avid cyclist and has helped raise over $400,000 for the St. Jude Children's Hospital's Scenic Bike Tour over the past 10 years. He has a strong background in management, marketing, policy, finance, and planning.
