Dennis R. Winters is an environmental policy analyst with the Clean Air Council, a 35-year old Philadelphia-based member-supported environmental organization. Winters's principal responsibilities at the Council are managing the group's sustainable transportation program. He is a mayoral appointee to the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), he has chaired the Regional Citizens Committee of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), and has served under two governors on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. He has been a public interest advocate on good-government and environmental matters for over 30 years, both as a volunteer and professionally. Formerly he served as a Regional Conservation Associate of the Sierra Club for the northeastern United States, and as the Director of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Group of the Sierra Club. Before moving to Pennsylvania in 1988, Winters also served as President of the Indiana Division of the Izaak Walton League of America, and on the group's national Board of Directors. He also served on the Transportation Advisory Committee under three mayors of Fort Wayne, Indiana and was a four-year City Council appointment to the Board of Directors of the Fort Wayne Public Transportation Corporation. |
