July 27 – August 1, 2015 – The FreeWalkers’ Hartford to Providence Expedition is a 6-day walk along the East Coast Greenway. Each year Ken Kurland and Nancy Jonap explore new walking areas farther away in the spirit of FreeWalker exploration and adventure. This year they have chosen to walk approximately 110 miles in six days from Hartford, CT, to Providence RI. Last year they covered New Haven to Hartford and previously the Connecticut Coastal route from New York City to New Haven. Essentially, they are covering the East Coast Greenway by foot. Doing what no one else has done before.
Each year they invite others to join them, if even for part of the walk. Are you game for a little exploring? The ECGA is helping support the walk along the way. For more info, please click here.
Sunday, August 2, 2015 – Manhattan Loop Ride, a 32-mile ride circling Manhattan by bike. Mostly on greenways or on-street bike lanes but for fit cyclists. Rain date is August 9. Rider leaders are Tony Savarese and Scott Baker, volunteers for the NY Committee for the ECG. Free for ECGA members. For non-ECGA members, the $20 event fee includes the cost of ride and a one-year membership to the ECGA at a 50% discount. Check out the route here. For more info, please click here.
