2007 Board Member Elections
ECGA members are encouraged to vote in our annual elections of Trustees. On November
10th, 2007, from 5:00-6:00 PM, we will hold our annual meeting to vote on new Board Members.
There are three ways to vote:
1. Attend our Annual Meeting and vote in person. The meeting is on November 10th from 5:00-6:00 PM in Durham, NC
2. Download and print the ballot and mail it to our office. Ballots must be received by Alliance headquarters by 11/2/06 to be counted.
3. Call our office at 401-789-4625 and request a ballot by mail. Again, ballots must be received by Alliance headquarters by 11/5/06 to be counted.
Board of Trustees Nominations
There are four openings on our Board of Trustees. If you have suggestions for other nominees, email us.
The following persons are presented by our Board Nominating Committee for three-year terms on the Board of Trustees, beginning January 1, 2008:
David Brickley
David is seeking to continue his prior board role. He has served on our board and as our Virginia State Committee Chair since 2004. He is a resident of Woodbridge, VA, and is
the former Director of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. David was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1975 and has served on numerous committees. He is co-founder
of the Virginia Railway Express, Virginia's commuter rail system, and has served as its chairman of the board. David is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and the George
Mason University School of Law. He served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star. David is an active walker and trail advocate.
Elizabeth "Beth" Brody
Beth is seeking to continue her role on the Board. She has served on the Board since 2004, and was the NJ Committee Chair from 2003-2005. Beth completed her
undergraduage work at Radcliffe and attended law school at Rutgers University, where whe stayed on for nine additional years as an assistant dean and dean of students.
In 1986 she started a private practice and is now retired. Over the past two decades Beth has volunteered with numerous organizations including the
Central Jersey Bicycle Club, the Union County Hiking Club, the Union County Open Space Advisory Committee, and the Rails to Trails Conservancy.
An avid cyclist, she runs the majority of her daily errands by bicycle. As the NJ state committee chair, Beth gave abundantly of her time and energy to make
the New Jersey portion of the East Coast Greenway a reality.
Beth currently resides in New York City, where she has taken an active role as editor of the committee's newsletter.
David "Dave" Dionne
Dave is seeking to continue his role on the board. He has been a member of the board since 1994 and served as chair from 2000-2004.
Dave is Superintendent of Trails and Greenways for Anne Arundel County, MD and he brings an important trail management perspective to the Alliance Board.
His responsibilities involve budget preparation, fiscal management, public relations, supervision of special events, employee training and supervision,
and long-term planning. He has been a speaker and
presenter at several local and national conferences. Dave holds a BS in Recreation and Parks from West Virginia University, and has completed Maryland Park Service Warden School,
Maryland Forest, Park, and Wildlife Ranger School, and Outward Bound training.
Donald Fisher
Don is President of Talisman Interactive, a media company that uses interactive technologies to design, develop and deliver marketing, educational
and transactional programs. As president, Don leads business strategy and business development activities of Talisman
and is actively involved with company's non-profit support activities including outreach and business planning.
25+ years in the information technology field have given Don a thorough understanding of marketing, sales and
information architecture for successfully communicating specific messages to target audiences. Don brings both national and
international business experience to the team including extensive experience with new business development and planning.

M. Katherine Kraft
Kate is seeking to continue her position with the board that she has held since 2006. She is a national expert in environmental approaches to promoting healthy behavior.
A hallmark of Kate's work is connecting disparate community sectors and cross-disciplines in re-assessing how to design communities and care systems that facilitate healthy
lifestyle choices. She is a recognized expert in how structural environments impact health, and is a distinguished spokesperson for the emerging "Active Living" movement.
Kate holds a Ph.D. in Social Research and Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and a Masters in Social Work from Temple University.
Anne Maleady
Anne is the Retail Director for the North East region of Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI). She is a
senior manager with over 2 decades of proven leadership in all aspects of retail store operations and 10 years experience in multi-store
operations. Anne has a strong track record of creating and implementing strategic
plans, proven success in reaching and exceeding financial objectives, and a unique ability to identify,
develop, and promote talented leaders. She is a leader with proven success in building dynamic productive teams and a demonstrated willingness to accept risk and challenge.
Anne has served on the board of the American Canoe Association and has done long-distance cycling in Europe and the southern U.S.
