I am a 55-year old touring bicyclist from Alpharetta, GA. I have been cycling seriously since 1991, and have logged almost sixty thousand miles since. While I have rarely been on a "bad bicycle ride", some of the best have been on Greenways. Thanks for visiting my page! Please support my fundraising ride on the ECG. Please read the rest of this page, and click the "support" button to give online with a credit card.

The East Coast Greenway is coming together as a 2600-mile trail connecting cities of the east coast for bicyclists, walkers, and other non-motorized users. The effort began in 1991, and today the route is 20% complete as off-road trail, the remainder on-road for the time being. By working with local, state and national agencies and organizations, the East Coast Greenway Alliance is making progress every day to grow the trail.
This fall's tour of the ECG from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida will be the first one ever. Funds raised on this tour will go to the Alliance to help fund their work to create this trail for all Americans.

Greenways afford several wonderful complements to riding: no cars and trucks, which removes the danger and the noise that we have come to be used to when outdoors. It is a real treat to move about outdoors without the interruptions of home, and you are able to converse with other Greenway users. These are conversations you would never have if you were in a car, or biking on the street. In our society today, it is a rare activity that has no downside, but being on a Greenway is one. Moving about in an clean & quiet manner, at a speed at which you can absorb what you see, and getting much needed exercise, while exposing yourself to interesting sights and persons; a rare treat, indeed.

This is why the East Coast Greenway is such an important project that deserves our support. It will put these beneficial trails within reach of so many people in some of our country's most populated areas. So, with your help, I hope to raise some funds for the East Coast Greenway, and to ride my bicycle for seven weeks from Maine to Key West, and to have many conversations and stories to recall when I finish.
