A proposed route for the East Coast Greenway has been mapped out from the New Hampshire border near Berwick, all the way to Calais. Among the trails we hope to incorporate are the Eastern Trail and the Downeast Trail.

Eight trail segments have been designated as parts of the ECG. They are (1) the Beth Condon Memorial Pathway, Yarmouth, (2) the Eastern Promenade Trail, Portland, (3) the South Portland Greenbelt, South Portland, (4) the Androscoggin River Bicycle Path, (5) the Calais Riverwalk, Calais, (6) the logging road through Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, (7) the Eastern Trail, Saco section, and (8) part of the Kennebec River Rail-Trail.

In addition, the Maine Department of Transportation, through a series of town meetings, has determined an interim on-road route for the ECG across the entire state, totaling 629 miles.

Detailed information on the Greenway in Maine can be accessed courtesy of the Maine Department of Transportation, a longtime supporter of the East Coast Greenway. Stay tuned for new maps of the East Coast Greenway!
