To keep life simple, the Greenway Interim Route follows PA Bike Route E over roads that meet the state's criteria for bicycle travel. If you follow the Route E signs, it is hard to get lost. However, road maintenance is a perpetual reality.
A northern portion of the route, between SB 7.7 and 11.8 (NB 40.8 to 45.5), is in poor condition at printing time. Route 413's shoulders are wide but very rough. Local riders prefer an alternate route listed below.
The bridge over the Schuylkill River at SB 37 (NB 15) is an open steel grate. It is very dangerous and the sidewalk is not in good condition. Use extreme caution on this bridge; we recommend walking your bike.
The state has just finished major improvements along the southernmost segment: SB 43.8 to 50.3 (NB 2.0 to 8.5). Be alert for incomplete lane painting, etc.
