Virginia Chapter Meeting on November 9
The Virginia Chapter of the East Coast Greenway will be having the first of several "Town Meetings" in Virginia to seek your ideas and help on moving the Greenway forward in Virginia. Thanks to Yon Lambert, Alexandria's Pedestrian and Bicycle Program Manager, we will meet on Thursday, November 9, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lyles Crouch Traditional Academy, 530 South Saint Asaph Street, Alexandria, Va. 22314 (http://www.acps.k12.va.us/crouch/ ). Please come and participate. In addition to an update on the statewide greenway and local routes, we will discuss setting up regional East Coast Greenway committees. PLEASE ATTEND AND HELP COMPLETE THE EAST COAST GREENWAY IN VIRGINIA. The next meeting is being planned for the greater Richmond area.

Virginia Outdoors Plan Public Meetings
The 2007 VIRGINIA OUTDOORS PLAN Public Meetings will be held shortly. The Virginia Outdoors Plan is the Commonwealth's official conservation, outdoor recreation, and open space plan, and it is intended to serve as a guide to all levels of government and the private sector in meeting the land conservation, outdoor recreation, and open space needs of the state. Your comments will help draft recommendations for Virginia's future. The East Coast Greenway is frequently mentioned in the current Virginia Outdoor Plan and we need to insure that it remains a major goal for greenway development in Virginia. The meeting schedule beginning on October 30th is available at http://dcr.virginia.gov/prr/vopmtgs06.htm. Comments to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation can be sent to: vop@dcr.virginia.gov.
