The East Coast Greenway is a developing trail system, spanning nearly 3,000 miles as it winds its way between Canada and Key West, linking all the major cities of the eastern seaboard. Over 25 percent of the route is already on safe, traffic-free paths.

Featured Trail!

Farmington Canal Trail

The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, New Haven to Simsbury, CT. The FCHT is the route of the ECG for about 45 miles, although the overall Farmington trail will ultimately extend a total of over 80 miles, connecting Long Island Sound all the way to Northampton, MA! It is both a great tourist route and a convenient transportation route. Of the 45 miles that the ECG is routed along, over 30 are complete as asphalt trail. The long transportation history (canal, then railroad, now rail-trail) of the corridor is illustrated by the remaining canal locks and railroad infrastructure, as well as plenty of modern signage inspired by "classical" railroad signs.
