Stories from Greenway travelers, present and past

Glenn Hirsch

Glenn has been riding the ECG to help raise funds and awareness for targeted therapies for gentler and more humane treatment of childhood cancers; he rides in memory of his nephew, Ian. Check out the blog and learn more!

Joel and Holly Amidon

Joel and Holly Amidon completed the entire East Coast Greenway route on bicycles leaving from Calais, Maine on August 1st, 2010 and arriving in Key West, Florida on October 9th. They rode in celebration of Joel's 50th birthday and their 25th wedding anniversary. The journey was wonderful in so many ways; they had perfect weather throughout the entire trip, there were no injuries, and best of all they caught up with many famiy and friends along the trail. Holly's parents provided support and fun all along the coast by serving as the official "sag" wagon!

Sadie Rides the Greenway

Sadie, a Labrador Retriever from Annapolis, rode with her friend, Dan McCrady, as he cycled the East Coast Greenway from Maryland to Maine in spring 2009.  Read about their trip on Sadie's blog. A big thank you to Sadie's generous trip sponsors, Pedal Pushers Bicycle Shop of Severna Park, Maryland, Solvit Products (bike trailer), Paws Pet Boutique (donor of the squeaky crab chew toy), and Sun Bicycles.

"We had fun meeting Dan and Sadie on their ride north through Massachusetts. I had a chance to review the ECG route through the area as we looked over Dan's ride plan. Now I'm anxious to do the ride myself from here into Boston and then out to Worcester" -Todd Kurland

Hey Todd- the ECGA wishes you the best of luck-- keep us updated!
