Sept. 21: A rest day for the team, which gave us the opportunity to explore Baltimore as tourists, visiting the Inner Harbor and other sites (Wayne liked the Frank Zappa memorial at the Pratt Free Library). On to Annapolis!
Sept. 22: Our cyclists rode from Baltimore to Annapolis today. At Severna Park, they were joined by local cyclists, including Anne Arundel County police officers, for the last 10 miles in to town.
Sept. 23: Our cyclists rode from Annapolis to Washington, D.C. on a gorgeous Saturday. Dan Hoagland of Washington Area Bicyclists Associations talked with us on the National Mall before we rode from D.C. to Alexandria, VA, on the Mount Vernon Trail.
Sept. 24: We talked with visitors today at World Rivers Day on the Potomac, part of the Potomac Riverkeeper Network's Riverpalooza celebration at National Harbor.
Sept. 25: Our cyclists ended their day in Richmond, VA, where a group joined us for a scenic short ride from the trailhead of the Capital Trail across the James River and in to downtown, where we met for gathered for refreshments and a few presentations from our partners.
Sept. 26: Dave Connelly and Lee Tobin rode 55 miles from Richmond to McKenney, Virginia, a scenic, rural stretch of the Greenway. One highlight of the day: Finding Maria's, an all-you-can-eat lunch stop in Petersburg, VA.
Sept. 27: Dave and Lee rode from McKenney to Clarksville, VA, crossing the Meherrin on the Tobacco Heritage Trail. In the evening, Kathryn Zeringue and our partners, Southside Planning District Commission and Roanoake River Rails-to-Trails, led a short walk along the trail from the La Crosse Trailhead.
