From our executive director: Together, we can get through this

Northern Delaware Greenway in New Castle County, Delaware

These are tough times. We have all followed the wave of disruption and contagion in the news over the past two months, and now it's arrived in the United States and all over the world. Our nonprofit takes the COVID-19 public health crisis very seriously, instituting new organizational policies shortly after the WHO declared it a pandemic last week. Our measures include a ban on staff travel, postponing or converting events to virtual and working remotely.

The Greenway Alliance is especially vulnerable to the crisis this year as our major events that made up 20 percent of our projected annual budget were planned for this spring. Thanks to supporters like you this past decade, we have prepared for downturns like this by establishing a rainy day fund. And we are cutting our costs as much as we can while retaining the talented professionals accelerating Greenway progress from Maine to Florida. While I know this may be a tough time for you as well, I ask that you consider making a contribution to help the Alliance get through this special period. If you can't give this spring, please consider legacy giving in the future.

The Greenway is one of the few things in our 450 communities that is still open. As a wide path that's safe for walking, running and biking while maintaining social distance, our linear park is indeed an oasis to help us maintain mental and physical health in the months ahead.

I wish you and your loved ones good health. Together, we can get through this.

Together, we can continue to make needed progress completing the Greenway for a healthy and sustainable tomorrow,

Dennis
