For a small nonprofit organization like the East Coast Greenway Alliance, organizing successful large-scale events like the New York City-to-Philadelphia Greenway Ride requires a great deal of attention to detail and time from our staff.

Currently, we are at a historic moment in our quest to complete a 3,000-mile Maine-to-Florida bicycle and pedestrian route and create greenways for all. Our organizational priority is to focus our efforts on making the most of this infrastructure moment.

With that in mind, the Alliance has strategically decided to pause on large-scale events in 2023.

Since the 2022 NYC-to-PHL Ride in May, we have heard from many individuals who are ready to register for the next edition of this event. We too look forward to our next chance to organize a fun experience that helps us build a safe and healthy future for all.

Our team will share updates on future East Coast Greenway events hosted by the Alliance or our partners in the region, including the 56-mile Ride the State: Connecticut on June 24, 2023. We also have created a brief survey to help us plan for future active events.

While the Alliance pauses on large-scale events, momentum is on our side to complete the East Coast Greenway. In September, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the acquisition of a nine-mile former rail line, which will be converted into a new state park connecting eight Essex and Hudson County communities and creating a game-changing link for the East Coast Greenway.

In Philadelphia, $31 million was committed for design and construction of the Spring Garden Street Connector, a critical multimodal complete street project, which will complete the East Coast Greenway and Circuit Trails between the Delaware and Schuylkill river trails.

In August, a record $50 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s RAISE grant program was awarded to projects along the East Coast Greenway, including New York City's Greenway Expansion Plan. The East Coast Greenway RAISE grant recipients are bolstered with $11.3 million in federal earmarks awarded this spring throughout our corridor, including New Jersey.
