Greenway the vote in this historic election

Most of the time, democratic engagement is a mix of calls, emails, and meetings with elected officials from the local to the federal level. But this fall is one of those special times when we get to choose the leaders we'll be meeting with for the next few years. 

You already know this. A record 66 million Americans have voted early, and we are still a week away! If you haven't yet voted, I recommend a great walk or bike ride (like my children above) to the polls on your local greenway segment. Here's to leaders ready to build a healthier, more equitable and sustainable future throughout the Eastern Seaboard and beyond!

Baltimore's East Coast Greenway 70% complete
Big things are happening for East Coast Greenway goers in Baltimore. The City of Baltimore has recently constructed a new 2-mile segment of the Jones Falls Trail in North Baltimore, extending it from the Cylburn Arboretum northward toward the Baltimore County line. Read more.



Fast Company: Imagine a transcontinental network of protected bike paths
“Our vision is an intercity network that people could bike and walk to destinations across the country,” says Executive Director Dennis Markatos-Soriano. Fast Company recently featured the world-changing idea of Greenway Stimulus, an East Coast Greenway-led campaign now at 180-plus supporting organizations calling for $10 billion in federal greenway infrastructure investment. Read more from Fast Company.



Coming fall 2021: the first end-to-end, fully-supported, East Coast Greenway cycling tour
Timberline Bike & Hike Adventures can help cure your pent-up wanderlust with this cycling odyssey! This one-of-a-kind experience will roll through deserted forests, populated cities, swamp land, sandy seashores, pretty villages, tourist destinations and forgotten roads along traffic separated trails and on-road portions of the East Coast Greenway, comprising nearly 3,000 miles of exploration and discovery.

The tour is divided into four segments that can be booked separately or for the entire ride! Local hotels, breakfast, dinner and snacks, tour leaders and mechanic, luggage transport, support van and detailed route notes are included. Tour organizers hope that by September 2021, we will truly be ready for safer travel and personal gatherings.
