The East Coast Greenway Alliance, with our partners the Farmington Valley Trails Council, and the Farmington Canal Rail to Trail Association are teaming up to host a 56-mile bike ride from New Haven, Connecticut, to Southwick, Massachusetts, showcasing the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, while highlighting its remaining gaps, on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
The majority of the ride is on the completed, flat trail system. The ride passes through eleven Connecticut towns before it reaches Southwick Massachusetts. There will be two rest stops, SAG support and a police escort on the RT 10 on-road gap. All registrations include lunch with vegetarian options.
We'll meet at the corner of College & Chapel Streets in New Haven. Parking garages are nearby. Sign-in opens at 7:30 a.m.; ride leaves northbound just after 8 a.m.
Lunch will take place in Avon, showcasing the brand-new Avon Village Center Project at Climax Road and the intersection of the (new!) trail just past the RT 44 tunnel.
Ride registration is $50 until April 15, $55 until May 15, $60 until June 15 and $70 thereafter. The first 80 participants can choose to add a bus ride back to New Haven for an additional $25 per person. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations is required for individuals wishing to ride the bus. Helmets and signed waivers are required. We will accept day-of registrations at the start until we cap the ride at 150.
