Sarah Sanford

Sarah works out of our Durham, N.C., office leading development of the greenway in North Carolina and Virginia.

As a Virginia native and a transplant to North Carolina, Sarah has lived in several cities along the East Coast Greenway, namely Fredericksburg, Richmond, Williamsburg, Raleigh, and Durham. Before coming to ECGA, Sarah worked in the environmental field as a consultant, naturalist, and environmental educator. She holds a master's degree in environmental management from Duke University and a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the College of William and Mary. Sarah is passionate about connecting people to nature and she enjoys exploring the outdoors by bike, by boat, and on foot.
