2019 RESULTS:

Thank you for joining us for the ninth annual Ales for Trails 5K, benefitting the nonprofit East Coast Greenway Alliance!

This community 5K will start and finish at the award-winning Fullsteam Brewery, just north of downtown Durham. The course winds through Old North Durham to Duke Park and along the Ellerbe Creek Trail – a segment of the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway, stretching from Maine to Florida. This race is proudly presented by the nonprofit East Coast Greenway Alliance and sponsored by Bull City Running Company.

Race-day registration (if not sold out) will be available at Fullsteam Brewery from 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 13. 

RACE-DAY DETAILS:

When & Where: Sunday, October 13, 2 p.m. start at Fullsteam Brewery (726 Rigsbee Ave, Durham, NC 27701)

Course Description: This community 5K will start and finish at the award-winning Fullsteam Brewery, just north of downtown Durham. The course will wind through Old North Durham to Duke Park and along the Ellerbe Creek Trail – a segment of the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway route, stretching from Maine to Florida. There will be one aid station on the course - staffed by Camp Gladiator - near the midway point of the race with water.

Packet Pick-Up: Race numbers may be picked up Saturday, Oct. 12 from 2-4 p.m. at Bull City Running Company (202 West N.C. Highway 54 #109, Durham, NC 27713) and on race day at Fullsteam Brewery from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. 

Last-Minute Registration: Now your friends and family want to run? Awesome! Online registration will close Friday, October 11 at 11:59 p.m. If not sold out, runners may also register Saturday, Oct. 12 from 2-4 p.m. at Bull City Running Company (202 West N.C. Highway 54 #109, Durham, NC 27713) and on race day at Fullsteam Brewery from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. 

Race-Day Parking: Rigsbee Avenue will be closed to cars between West Corporation Street and Geer Street from noon to 4 p.m. There is ample public parking in downtown Durham. Options include:

  • Municipal parking lot at Foster Street and Hunt Street

  • Street parking on Madison Street

  • Chapel Hill Street (Rigsbee Ave) Parking Deck

Post-Race Refreshments: At packet pick-up, each runner will receive a ticket to be redeemed for their limited-edition Ales for Trails 5K pint glass and beer after the run at Fullsteam Brewery. You must present your ticket and photo ID in order receive a beer. Youth runners will receive a special East Coast Greenway silicon cup and chocolate milk from Maple View Farm.

Post-Race Recovery: For interested runners, ActivEdge Fitness & Sports will be on hand to assist with free post-race recovery.

Awards: Unique, custom awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the second- and third-place overall male and female finishers, and the top three masters male and female finishers. A team prize will be awarded to the largest finishing team.

Post-Race Raffle: All runners will be entered to win prizes and gift certificates from a number of local businesses. Winners will be announced during the post-race award ceremony.
