Bolton Notch, CT
Start: Hop River Trail, Bolton Notch, Bolton, CT
Route: Follow the trail 6 miles east to the scenic covered bridge in Andover and return for a 12-mile trip, or continue another 4 miles east to Willimantic for restaurants, lodging, and more.
If you have a fat bike, cross country skis or ski skates, this is the winter trail for you. It's a beautiful wooded trail on an old rail bed, making its way through incredible stone cuts dripping with icicles, over a covered bridge, and alongside a bubbly brook. The trail is never plowed so it’s over the river and through the woods for you!
In warmer seasons, biking, hiking and walking opportunities abound. For a longer trip, continue onto the Airline Trail in Willimantic.
